Amazon is getting incredibly negligent in listing classical CDs: absolutely NO information is given.

Anyway, this CD features Schoenberg's Wind Quintet Op. 26 of 1924. The Quintet is one of the Master's most significant chamber works in which he systematically and uniformly utilizes his 12-tone method, pouring his content into a classical mould. (His first fully 12-tone work is the piano Suite Op. 25 of the previous year.)

The Quintet is a large piece comprised of four movements, each :10mins or more in duration. Movement III (langsam/slow) is especially notable: I believe it adjusts brain electricity, inducing Theta-brainwaves--which of course fall between the Alpha- and Beta-brainwaves of higher energy, and the long Delta-waves of deep sleep. Theta-waves are found in dreamy states of consciousness such as meditation or waking-sleep.

An x-ray version of the Quintet is available for violin & piano: Schoenberg: Complete Works for Violin & Piano .
