CD Reviews

Young Divas is simply irresistible

"Being in the USA and having to take a chance on a cd from Idols of another land was one of the best chances I ever took of course I had heard of them from their first cd which wont let you down ever. Lets get back to NEW ATTITUDE hands down is better than the first I give it a 5 out of 5 even though I'm a die hard Stevie Nicks fan the Divas didnt do justice with I cant wait put as Randy Jackson would say you did your thing not Stevie's. The only other song on the cd that isnt so great is Love will lead you back now for anyone that loves Taylor Dayne's version will love this as well but for me that wasnt ever one of my favorites from Taylor herself. So dont waste anymore time buy it for the music lover in your family, yourself or the one you love. You are guaranteed to love it!"

"YES, IT'S FOR REAL! So here, after a year's wait, the Divas' grand and glorious compilation for the follow-up to the 2006 masterpiece has arrived!! Direct from Australia, the divas have returned with a new look, new songstress and most notably, a new attitude! The change-up: As Ricki-Lee Coulter departs to focus on her solo career and a wedding, new "Oz Idol" finalist, Jessica Mauboy steps in the shoes left by Ricki-Lee (Nine West, Bandolino, take your pick).

For myself, this LP was well worth the anticipation and wait. Also, the selection of material here is extremely captivating and a dynamic batch of my most favoured tracks to receive the Diva treatment. Amid various 80s sentimental favourites (and 70s landmark fixtures), the unexpected and highly rewarding gem in this set is their variation for Stevie Nicks' "I Can't Wait" (Note, I didn't say Nu Shooz). Upon glancing at the track listing, one would expect the John Smith/Valerie Day track. Not this time! Here it's the Stevie Nicks track that gets the Diva sound. And boy am I THRILLED because that was, and still is, one of my most highly favoured tracks from a decade I'm quite fond of.

The other 80s gems covered in this set are equally outstanding. Cases in point, these ladies deliver a most beautiful rendition of Taylor Dayne's "Love Will Lead You Back" and a purely Hi-NRG chart-topping version of Taylor's "Tell It To My Heart!" Well done, ladies!!!

Just as well, The Pointer Sisters would be equally honoured because their tracks here are given the respect, vocality and musical production that Ruth, June and Anita would be quite proud of!!!

One of the unexpected highlights from this set is their lead single--a cover of Loverboy's "Turn Me Loose" (as I said before, this is for real). With their vocal range, stylings and a brilliantly genius symphony of dance/R&B rhythms, Loverboy's classic now fits perfectly and smoothly in the club genre. Just as well, this new rendition serves as a quite engaging tapestry in the R&B mosaic.

These ten songs are just what the deejays and dance clubs ordered to spark your shoes and the feet and soul to move all over again. The Divas have created yet another masterpiece and eternal collection of ten more dance classic.
