Mystical Surrender to Love
Rebecca Johnson | Washington State | 10/15/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

""The Kiss of God is the melting of self

into Other, and both into pure bliss.

This is the awakening that the

soul desires." ~beautiful words from Yishakeni

Kabbalah Kirtan is a pleasant surprise and a worshipful collection of songs that are passionately holy and spiritual in beauty. Your heart can truly feel the light of love and experience a lightening of the load of the world's cares as you fall into a musical embrace of worship.

This is a collection of songs designed to encourage unity with God and YofiYah's voice is like a portal into another dimension where you feel close to God and experience an all-encompassing feeling of love.

Frame drum, wind chimes, tabla, madal, sarangi, finger cymbals, harmonium, electric guitar, oud, bansuri, flute and vocals mingle to produce a liberating ecstasy the soul recognizes as spiritual joy or a sigh of the heart falling into happiness. The liner notes explain the Hebrew chants so you can experience the deeper meanings in the lyrics as your soul opens up into a spacious beauty.

"Within the heart of love

is compassion.

Within the heart of compassion

is peace." ~words from Oseh Shalom

Kabbalah Kirtan is transformative in that it takes you from the mediocre and mundane and lifts you to a higher spiritual plane where you enter into a worship of the divine. YofiYah's voice is delicate and yet powerful in its awakening power. She brings a beautiful feminine energy to her music in a similar way to how Jai Uttal infuses his music with peace. This type of music crosses all religious and cultural boundaries and truly does unify and create a state of peace through contemporary spiritual practice.

THE BEST OF TWO WORLDS
MYSTIC | CLEVELAND, OH USA | 10/13/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Yofiyah is the best of two worlds. The first world is her instrumental orchestration. I love her combination of middle eastern dialect with the musical instruments of India. The other world is in her lyrics,Hebrew and English. Although I have enjoyed Sanshrit lyrics, Yofiyah have given me a native language with a cultural melody that I can ethnically identify with.

This CD is played for my morning meditation. It immediately brings a joyful encouragement for the day that is ahead of me.

In fact, her octave levels has reminded of that of Tim Buckley, a legend in his own musical innovation in the 70's. Is possible that Yofiyah is his reincarnation?

So incredible...

"My family and I heard Yofiyah recently and her music was gorgeous, even transformative. The chants keep coming back to us over and over again. My little ones have even requested "Dodi Li" many times as a bedtime song, or in the car. I hate stuff that is flaky, and this is the opposite of flaky--deep, simple, profound, beautiful. The tunes and the percussion touched my soul."
