The full title is'Concerto Suite For Electric Guitar And Orchestra In E FlatMinor Op.1'. Malmsteen composed & produced all 12 tracks. 1999 release. NOTE - the 'Rock' edition contains the exact same music as the 'Classical' edition of this album. "After my last review i whote about concerto suit with japan phi` i got malmateens "rock version" of his concerto suit...this version played by the czech philarmonic orchestra under the supervision $ arrangment of david rothental who scored it out and recorded synthesized version which added to malmsteens guitar parts and after he find the conductor and the orchestra to play malmsteens work. malmsteens dream was to compose and perform a piece in a orthodox classical form. his opportunity come in 1996 and this classical piece being composed by him . maybe this virsion is better than his performance with japan philarmonic and half of the album sound great. after hearing this cd again and again i found 1- 6 tracks and track 10 awesome and real masterpeace ( i gave them 5 stars) but the other tracks like sarabande , allegro; presto vivace weak ( 2-3 stars only) so i finaly give this album only 4 stars. i still cant compare this work to his rocks items and prefer his live at budokan (94`) and live at brazil ( 98`) on his concerto suit whith japan philharmonic which i bought in dvd.
i like the rock virsion but whith out " blitzkrieg (encore)"and "far beyond the sun ( encore)" he played with the new japan philharmonic i cant tell you the rock virsion is better then his performance in the dvd version so i still give this 4 stars. malmsteen convince us he can composed classic music very well and some of it is awesome but please make your next items neo classic ones . i'm waiting to his next cd " attack" that will arrive in the summer.
the concerto suit ...is must have for all malmsteens fan... buy it as " rock virsion". after i bought all malmsteens cd and most of his dvd i thinking malmsteen is the best and hope his next album will be neo classic metal genre and not classical item. i add this item to my collection .

"What an album! This is his best one since Rising Force and I wish he'd do more stuff like this. There is plenty of lightning-quick playing, which made him famous, but there are also some slower, very beautiful pieces too. He also uses different styles, from heavy and powerful to light and uplifting. I was looking for an album like this for a long time. I'd love it if he'd get away from the stupid 80s-style vocal numbers and focus his energy on pure music like this. He should be very proud of this album (not that his ego needs to get any bigger) and any fan of guitar or classical music should be proud to own it. Well worth the price!"
Classical electric guitar!

"I think Malmsteen could keep his mind this way, is his best work, he is not made for popular music... He could take the electric guitar to a high level between classical musicians just like Blas Galindo did. Great score except for the excesive "distortion" he'd better give up using it and start on clean guitar sound."
