Yehudi Menuhin: The Great Violin Concertos
What's the point?

(2 out of 5 stars)
"My stars rating is based on value, not Mr. Menuhin's performances, which are widely known.
As of the time of this review, Amazon does not list what's on this collection. EMI's website has a track listing but you have to guess who many of the composers are (generally not too hard) and which of Menuhin's recording of a particular work is used (much harder). However, as best as I could figure out from EMI's similarly cryptic listing of the recordings on the 50-cd set "Yehudi Menuhin: The Great EMI Recordings", probably 80-90% of what is contained in this "Concertos" set is duplicated on the slightly _less_ expensive 50-cd set that includes an abundance (40+ discs) of additional Menuhin material spanning many genres.
Given that both sets were issued in 2009 and seem (again, based on the poor information on EMI's site) to use the same remasterings, I can't understand the purpose of this set or why anyone would select it."
