"Forget about the updated, remixed versions of Situation - how can you make a classic like this any better?? For the most part these remixes go on for far too long, they stray too far from the orginal version, and they have that horrible mid-nineties club sound ( way too much thud in the bass drum, and too much deviation from the 4/4 beat that is a staple of all good club music.) For me the main attraction is the previously unavailable ( on CD at least ) original US Dub version of Situation that Francois Kervorkian made for the original 12" vinyl pressing. Missing here unfortunately is the original 7" mix of Situation ( what a treat that would have been for US fans of Yazoo.) Also of interest is the complete Madhouse Mix of State Farm, that actually manages to improve on the orignal. The gang at DMC gives this song the kick it didn't have originally. It was issued originally in 1990 on a casstte single ( remember those ? ), but only the edited version made it onto the cd single back then. Here it is restored to its full former glory."
