Synopsis

Product Description
This special 2-disc set is a reissue of Y&T's '90s releases Musically Incorrect and Endangered Species. Fans have been asking for these two out-of-print CDs to be reissued so the band answered their pleas. Though widely under-appreciated during the grunge-era of the 1990s, these two albums are considered by the band to be some of their favorite material. Includes extensive liner notes and bonus video footage.

CD Reviews

Y&T's last two studio albums - reissued
Justin Gaines | Northern Virginia | 10/25/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The 2-disc Incorrect Species reissue collects the final (to date) studio albums from San Francisco rock legends Y&T - 1995's Musically Incorrect and 1997's Endangered Species.

Y&T released these albums at a time when the musical climate wasn't exactly friendly towards Y&T's particular brand of hard rock. Fortunately the band didn't look at the popular alternative bands and say "We can do that", but it did seem like they went out of their way to distance themselves from any kind of hair metal comparisons. I suppose that's understandable, given how unpopular that kind of music was at the time, but the end result is that these albums lack the atmosphere and sense of fun that other Y&T albums had. I'm not necessarily looking for Summertime Girls Part II, but I think the albums might be a bit too serious for their own good.

Musically Incorrect and Endangered Species are both solid hard rock albums. they may not live up to die-hard Y&T fans' expectations, but an average Y&T album is still going to be better than most bands' best work.

This 2008 reissue collection features both albums on separate CDs. They have not been remastered like the other Y&T reissues, but they're recent enough releases that they probably didn't need the sonic upgrade. The reissue includes new liner notes by the band, but no lyrics. There is also a live video clip (a 1995 performance of Long Way Down) added to the second disc.

If you already have both original albums, there probably isn't much reason to buy this reissue. If you missed them the first time around this is a good way to grab both albums for a reasonable price. Now if only the band would issue a remastered 2-on-1 of Contagious and Ten."
