Synopsis

Album Description
The Ghost of Will Harbut is Wishing Chair's third CD.It's earthy folk rock sound is built on the strong songwriting of former Stealin Horses front person, Kiya Heartwood. The songs cover a wider territory from the title cuts acoustic lament for the loss of the horse farms and traditions of the bands home of Lexington, Kentucky to the witty pop of the song , Now. The bands sound is reminiscent of folk bands such as Buffalo Springfield or Fairport Convention. With five singers, the harmonies are a high point. Davidson's accordion is perfectly matched with Eric Chapmans electric guitar. This folk definitely rocks!

CD Reviews

From a South Carolina fan:

"I was fortunate to be in Lexington, KY a couple of weeks ago at the time of the release party for Wishing Chair's newest CD - The Ghost of Will Harbut. WOW! It was my good fortune to hear a sample of the CD at Joseph-Beth's Bookstore and I instantly had to have a copy. I was not familiar with Wishing Chair at all until that time. When checking out, Kiya & Miriam walked by headed for the coffee shop. Luckily, I was able to meet them, along with their guest bass player on this record. They were both gracious and excited that I had purchased their CD and encouraged us to come to their CD release party that night at The Kentucky Theatre in downtown Lexington. This group literally blew me away. Their harmony with each other along with the other band members was beautiful, the song lyrics memorable and sometimes haunting - The Ghost of Will Harbut will give you chills and remind you where our lands and farms are headed . . Their music on this CD makes grand statements about the souls of who they are and what they are about. Kiya and Miriam are phenomenal. The guest fiddler and harmonica player lend themselves for a wonderful completion of this CD. I am going to get their older stuff and know that I will find it just as enjoyable. Wishing Chair has a definite new fan who is spreading the word . . I hope everyone gets a chance to see them perform live, also. The energy is amazing - Kiya's voice, Miriam's accordion, the guitar licks, Bree's dancing, Topana and her drums -- again, WOW!"

"I randomly came across this CD during a websearch, and was drawn in by the unique name of the band. After reading some reviews, I ordered the disc and was pleased. The songs vary quite a bit from one another, but there is a nice mix of mellow and upbeat tunes. Some songs remind me of the Indigo Girls, and others have more of a country-music sound. However, even though I generally do not care for country music, I really like this CD. Anyone who is in to women's folk or indie music should add this cd to their collection."
