""Jazz Spirit" says it all. The music straddles straight-ahead jazz and sacred music. While it's "got that swing" (joyfully and "jazzfully"), there is a somber and sacred quality to the sound and mood of the offerings. "Offerings" is the only word that seems to fit the serious intent of the musicians. Many of Chicago's finest musicians (including Bethany Pickens) are on these various cuts. To them and to his friends he is "Willie". But here, on this 1st of 2 discs, he is Mr. William Pickens, doing what he does best---glorifying and praising his God with all the talent he was given. This CD is highly recommended."
