CD ReviewsWillie's fist compilation on Fania! (Remastered) coa1881 | New York, NY USA | 05/25/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "These tracks are compiled from Willie Colon's first four albums on Fania records. It's a good place to start if you are looking to familiarize yourself with Colon's early work.
Lead vocals are by Hector Lavoe. I must say, however, that the new digital transfer and remastering is a bit dissapointing. It seems that too much sound limiter was used thereby drowning out the treble. Otherwise, the sound is fuller. If tape hiss really bothers you then this is for you. Although, I think I like the old Fania reissue better. It has a better high end sound. -that's if you don't mind some hiss. This edition has original album art and an informative essay by John Child. You must buy it!!!" |
