"I am a long time record collector. My grandfather turned me onto 50s records when I was growing up in the early 70s. I have collected records since then. I have some of the rarest of rare funk jazz records of all time. Classics. I recently was turned on to this record. This ranks up there with the greatest of all time records in all genres. The band is sizzling the whole time. The mixing and engineering ranks up there with the greatest mixed rock records of that year: pink floyd - dark side of the moon; led zeppelin - IV. I would dare anyone to question my explanation as to why this record is equal to those other records. For all the beat heads out there, the band is as tight as on the rare groove classic; eugene mcdaniels - headless heroes of the apocalypse. Of all the records I have listened too, this is the first one that I have felt absolutely compelled to write a review about. It also has Hector Lavoe on vocals very early in his career at his best. Google Hector Lavoe and you will see how amazing his life was. His life inspired two movies and a Broadway play. That part of the story is compelling enough to make someone buy this record. But on top of this is the music which is phenomenal for every second. Jazzy and Che Che Cole are burners, but I feel ashamed to mention those songs because every song in this album is fantastic. I could go on and on about each one. It doesn't matter which genre of music you like the best. You will love this record."
