Willie Cobbs Plays His Blues
peter krampert | eharmonica.net | 02/04/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Blues harmonica player Willie Cobbs grew up in rural Arkansas and learned to play the harmonica as a youngster. he moved to Chicago in the early 1950's and was soon working with Little Walter, from whom he took harmonica lessons. Cobbs often sat in with the Muddy Waters band and in the late 1950's he opened his own south-side Blues club.Cobs made his first recordings in the early 1960's. His biggest hit, "You Don't Love Me" has been covered by dozens of other artists, including the Allman Brothers, Sonny and Cher and many others. Like most of Cobbs' other recordings, the song appears on this CD.This CD is a nice example of what you can expect to hear from Cobbs, Not overly terrific, but not bad at all. Cobbs is a very capable vocalist and his harmonica playing definitely shows his influences. I would recommend this album if you're trying to fill out your collection of Blues harmonica players."
