Possibly the best Kern collection so far

"This album brings you as close to Kern's intentions as you will probably ever get. A rival set on EMI with Kiri Te Kanawa uses full orchestra and her delivery of the nearly operatic numbers do indeed rival Morris's. On the other hand, Morris's mezzo, I believe, does fuller justice to the all of the songs; and as for the use of piano vs. full orchestra, well less is more in this case.More to the point, Morris sings (as she always does) as if she means every single word. So Kiri's rendition (say) of "Look for the silver lining" is perhaps better sung but that of Morris is more believable. Frankly I would recommend both albums, but this would be the one of choice."
