CD Reviews

100% "Non Stop Rock `n Roll" - They said it perfectly !!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"It would be fair to say that over the past five years, "Wig Wam" has developed into one of the leading glam rock/hair metal acts that Europe has to offer. "Non Stop Rock 'n Roll" is the brand new, fourth studio album from the Norwegian glam outfit and equally as good as their previous albums. I suppose what differentiates this release from the previous "...Wam" albums is the fact that the majority of the material here is slightly more groovy particularly in terms of guitar riffs and bass lines, yet beyond that, "Wig Wam" retains the sound and style qualities that defined their previous works:

Åge Sten Nilsen is one of the most convincing glam front men the scene has to offer with the rare ability of creating party atmosphere even when the tune he sings tells a tragic story. Guitarist Trond Holter is also a force to be reckoned with, a very technical guitarist a fact which is particularly evident during his guitar solos, but aside of that, he also puts great emphasis on the opening guitar riffs which, as mentioned previously, have a very groovy feel although unmistakably metal (the king of glam you could actually dance to). The line up is completed by the very appropriate rhythm section of Bernt Jansen on bass and drummer Øystein Andersen.

To say that the album includes potential hits would be an understatement as "Non Stop Rock `n Roll" is the ideal soundtrack of any rock party. The material here is so consistent, stylish and positive that might have you reaching the final track wondering how fast one got there... "Do you wanna taste it", "Walls come down", "C'mon everybody", "Man in the moon", "Still I'm burning" are sure to cause a glam rock overdose to any fan of the genre.

It has been expressed that `quality glam metal should be based on exaggeration'. I suppose this is fairly true; Still "Wig Wam" prove with "Non Stop Rock `n Roll" that if one has the riffs, the choruses and a natural delight for partying in a rock manner, you already have a monster glam rock album right there!

"Rock Hard" Greek magazine (issue 49) marks this album with 8/10 commenting: "What you'll find here is rock'n roll attitude, party feeling and huge amounts of hard rock"

"Classic Rock" UK magazine (issue 142) marks this album with 6/10 commenting: "A slick take on classic 80s hair metal... Wig Wam simply do not waste time"
