My favorite new cd

"White Hassle was brought to my attention by a friend who insisted I see them live. After catching them opening up for Boss Hog, I was sold on their live performance, and purchased "Life Is Still Sweet". I was not dissapointed! The EP showcases the bands different moods and styles; their ability to make you dance, cry, or simply rock. Water tank effectively uses a DJ with a dancehall beat to make your feet move, while Life is still Sweet is a straight ahead beautiful pop song with amazing lyrics. The drum jam on Futura Trance almost lives up to the live version. Why isn't this band huge?!!! Buy It!!!!!!"
Bright and breezy - tuneful stuff

"...Easy to listen to, reminiscent of Billy Bragg and Wilco tomy ears. Due to a defect on my CD player, it replays discs untilmanually stopped, but with this disc that dysfunction didn't bother mea bit. It's upbeat, well performed, and appealing music."

"Life Is Still Sweet White Hassle Orange RecordingsHey you record man. Yeah you. Get yourself a producer and get this band into the studio pronto. Life Is Still Sweet is an eclectic EP from New York City trio, White Hassle, (apparently named after the infamous White Castle fast-food chain, but you'll have to take my word for it that it would be much wiser to check out this band than the food from White Castle). I think there exists to much hoopla, mumbo-jumbo, excess noise, whatever you want to call it on this album until the second song, "Life Is Still Sweet," comes on and then you can begin to see what this band is about. When stripped down, the core of this band has something special, but I think the New York scene has got the better of them with the addition of turntables and drum machines on certain tracks. This is why I suggest a good producer, as the fifth track "Futura Trance" proves; drummer Dave Varenka needs no help from a machine. White Hassle does have a full-length CD out on Matador Records called National Fence, which could be worth looking into and they have been getting attention nationally as well as in Europe. So I don't know if you should spend your hard-earned pennies on this one, but I would keep White Hassle on your ol' "bands to watch" list. Capiche Cochise?
