CD Reviews

Not bad, but not his best
Nique | 04/11/2008
(3 out of 5 stars)

"First of all i'll say that I like this singer a lot. He's one of my favorite timbres among Rome, L.V., Myron and Anthony Anderson. I've listened to all of Wendell Brown's cd and gonna tell the following: "Time To Relax.." - is very qulitative music, r&b with 90's sound, It hard to find music with sound like this now.., but you have to know the weak sides of this cd.

The things i don't like here:

1. Too synthetic arrangements (Just check "Maybe Tomorrow" from "Make It Good For Ya" 1998 album. IT's BEAUTY. One of the best songs from Wendell Brown. I'd lke to hear sogs like "Maybe Tomorrow on "Time To Relaõ")

2. Too much rappin. 3 rap parts in 11 songs.

3. Too simple lyrics. In his first album words were more refined

4.Too many skits. 12 skits and 11 songs??

The things i like here:

1. His style and manner of singin

2. Old 90's r&b/soul music sound

3. Timbre

4. Modesty (No rough sex songs)

5. Conception (i like the interview at the end of the cd with Wendell's thoughts on different questions)

Resume:

I give this album 3 stars. But 3 stars only if compare with his other albums (exclude Christas albums) The first one for me will be "Make It Good For Ya" 1998. It's a classic Wendell Brown - grown man with serious soul album. The second will be "Good Times" and the third "Time To Relaõ"

But if it compare with modern commercial rnb, i'll give "Time To Relax..." 5 STARS!)

THAK YOU VERY MUCH for this one mr.Wendell Brown.

your fan from Moscow, Russia

Nique

P.S. I hope, that once Mr. Brown will write down any improbable duets with any other indie R&B singers)) maybe even with Rome :-)"
