Essential British Invasion classics

"Although not as exhaustive as "The Best of Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders", this has their best known and most popular tracks. Aside from the classics "The Game of Love" (performed by WF and TMB) and "A Groovy Kind of Love" (performed by The Mindbenders after their split from WF), we also get 1 solo hit from WF ("Pamela, Pamela") and a number of singles that The Mindbenders recorded on their own.

Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders are best remembered for a handful of classic radio stables but more importantly they served as the launching board for 10cc ("I'm Not in Love", "Dreadlock Holiday", "The Things We Do For Love", "Good Morning Judge" and "Art for Art's Sake"). Eric Stewart became The Mindbenders lead vocalist and remained their guitarist when Fontana left(he also wrote a number of the band's songs either alone or in collaboration). After the departure of their bassist, noted songwriter Graham Gouldman ("Bus Stop", "For Your Love"). Stewart and Gouldman would form the nucleus of 10cc throughout it's career (the other two founding members of 10cc Kevin Godley and Lol Creme wrote "Pamela, Pamela" with Gouldman assisting although they didn't receive credit).

"The Best of" collection has more material but this is a pretty good place to start and covers the most important material the band recorded during their brief tenure in the 1960's."
2 "hard to find" pop gems--

"We've all heard the terrific pop classics GAME OF LOVE and GROOVY KIND OF LOVE (which are included on this CD). However the real treasure on this CD are the two songs The Mindbenders performed in the film, "To Sir With Love" (OFF AND RUNNING; and IT'S GETTING HARDER ALL THE TIME).

2 POP GEMS!"
"The Game of love" is one of the best songs of all time.

"This CD has even more groovy Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders songs. "Schoolgirl" is the best. If your going to get different Mindbenders CD make sure Schoolgirl is on it. Of course "Groovy kind of love" is on it. That song is pretty good. And the rest of the CD is just plain enjoyable music."
