CD Reviews

Best split album ever
odihhnavast | Massachusetts, USA | 07/02/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I'm not a guy who's much into split albums. Most of the time its one band that rules with some other band i've never heard of that i'll listen to once and never again. Like the spazz opstand split. Come on...opstand's terrible. (unlike spazz!)

Anyways, I was on a wicked anata kick a while back before the "Under a stone with no inscription" album came out and got the album with no idea who bethzaida was. Let me tell you that bethzaida is amazing. they are one of the best black metal bands to ever exist. you need to buy both of their albums and this one right now.

Anata's work on this album isnt amazing, its around the level of the "dreams of death and dismay" stuff. Which is good, dont get me wrong, but it just pales against "the infernal depths of hatred." if you're looking for the best album anata did (and one of the best albums period) you really need to get "the infernal depths of hatred". Anata's cover of morbid angel is an intresting inclusion though, and i like it.

this album right here features easily the best cover I have ever heard though, and thats bethzaida's cover of Anata: Under Azhure Skies.

sadly bethzaida doesnt exist anymore. but you buy this anyways and be better for it!

bethzaida is really raw black metal with a flute. anata is melodic structured death metal.

boner."
