Album Description Jeff Pilson forged a brilliant career playing with Dokken, Dio and Michael Schenker and formed War & Peace in the early 90's as a showcase for his vocal and songwriting ability. Pilson continues to tour and record as a member of Dokken but took some time off in the new millennium to collaborate with some of his friends for a 2nd War & Peace album. Pilson recruited Scorpion's drummer James Kottak as well as Reb Beach, Ritchie Kotzen, Paul Gilbert, John Norum and John Levin to unleash their collective musical masteries. 10 tracks. 2001 reissue. Member CD Reviews Kenneth W. (Eyesore) from TAUNTON, MA Reviewed on 12/4/2007... War And Peace started as a side project for Dokken bass player Jeff Pilson in 1993. So far they have released four albums, this being the third, and first where Jeff plays the role of primary songwriter and musician.
The overpowering role he played in Dokken's sound over the years is clearly evident here. Jeff's vocal performance is very strong and his harmonizing melodies sound almost indentical to how they sound on Dokken albums. The music is a mix of classic 80s rock and a more modern rock sound. The songs themselves are excellent and very catchy. Considering that this album came out after Jeff left Dokken I can't help but wonder how much better Dokken's latest two CDs would have been if Jeff had been in the band and contributed some of these songs to those albums. They were good albums, but Light At The End Of The Tunnel is a great album! Fans of Dokken, or those who crave an ode to the old school, should try to find this album. A bit of free advice -- something someone should have mentioned to the band: Never -- and I mean NEVER! -- use the Nightmare Before Christmas font on ANYTHING! He is far more appealing than Don Dokken to me. He has great power and he really makes you want to sing with him. He wrote every song and did all his own harmonies also....smokin'!... He played his own bass tracks and also got some great guitar players including his band mate, Reb Beach. My personal favorite song was "Playing God Again". I'm not usually into all the quartet harmony singing songs although, I did really enjoy "Cast the Stone". Amazing!! This cd rocks. Highly recommended!..."
