CD Reviews

Great Texas jazz/country

"It's really hard to describe the late Walter Hyatt. He reminds you of such legendary Texans as Willie Nelson, Guy Glark, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Lyle Lovett (who produced this album), though as a vocalist, he has as much in common with Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Mel Torme in their younger years. This record has been more or less ignored because it lacked a radio-friendly single, but if you like any of the folks I've mentioned above, give it a try. I guarantee you it's a winner."

"Walter Played a brand of music that is outside of any category. King Tears is as beautiful and soulful an album as you will ever listen to. I was fortunate enough to buy this album back in 1992 and I was so impressed, I sent it to all my friends for Christmas. I saw Walter the night before the crash at my bar in Key West.He and his band had just taken their first sail on the water, and had to perform their show with a bit of sunburn. Thanks for the music, Walter and Happy Sailing."
Bravo, Mr. Hyatt! We assure you, you are still loved, 10 ye

"This, like all the Uncle Walt's Band music, is such a fine album!!! I was lucky enough to see Uncle Walt's Band and buy autographed LPs in Houston at Corky's back in the early 1980s when they were still together. What a great group of musicians and human beings they were. King Tears will please anyone who loves jazz, blues, swing, and/or folk. Put it on for initmate dinner music, or enjoy a glass of wine with your friends and get into this album! And for you, Mr. Hyatt, I hope that they are enjoying your music live in the Great Beyond. We are thankful to still have all the recordings you released, and still enjoy them often. You are missed here. We still love you and your music! And as your song says, ALOHA!"
