Et'Cetera's first SACD release features Belgian clarinetist Walter Boeykens playing two of Mozart's last masterpieces, the Clarinet Concerto and Clarinet Quintet. Boeykens is joined in the Concerto by the Flanders chamber orchestra Prima la Musica, under their director Dirk Vermeulens. The ensemble specializes in authentic instruments and an historically informed approach to classical and early romantic masterpieces at once contrasting and blending with Boeykens, who performs on a modern instrument. The Quintet is performed by Ensemble Walter Boeykens, with which Boeykens has recorded extensive chamber music featuring the clarinet.
