CD Reviews

Amazing

"Wakefield has defintely changed. The first album was pure highschool garage band going pop-punk. It was very good though. This time, they have matured and sound incredible.

Luckily for me, first impressions don't last. When I first listened to the CD, my expectation was for another "American Made" which had Simple Plan/Good Charlotte-like choruses. I wasn't as impressed as I hade hoped for a while, then got to Picture Frame and I loved the rest of the songs. After listening to the CD again, while trying to forget their first album, I realized how amazing it is.

The guitars on New Game are unbelievable. They're also really good on Without You, Take Off, and Asleep on Broken Teeth. I think the best song though is After School Special. The only downside I could find was Clean 1145 and the hidden track. I guess they were just weird experiments in song types.

If you like rock in general at all, get Wakefield (both cds)."
AMAZING.....6 stars if possible!!!!

"I would give this CD 6 stars if I could. I love this song, and they will probably be my new obsession for a bit. Until Goldfrapp comes out with their new album!

Anyway.

This CD rocks. It's spunky, has awesome vocals. The harmonies blow me away and the way they mix the guitars and everything together is breathtaking!

Best song on the CD for me?

Has to be a tie between "Picture Frame" and "Quietly Complaining".

Both songs feature a great buildup to the chorus, and I just found myself singing my heart out in the middle of the street to both of these songs, while listening to them one after another. "Picture Frame" sent chills up and down my spine while I listened to it the first time. It was so beautiful and just plain AWESOME!

I don't get this excited over many CDs, but yes yes yes. This group has changed a LOT since their first CD. Gone are the grungy, edgy guitars and welcome to one of the finest Pop-Rock groups you'll find today!

If you like (old) Finch, Yellowcard or Something Corporate, these guys will fit right into your repetoire of music, and, in my opinion, surpass them all. I'm not saying they sound LIKE them, they have their own sound, their own style, everything. Highly reccommended."

"I have to be honest. I'm a little disappointed... in the fact that it took me so long to hear these guys. Of all the big bands out there, Wakefield runs the show in my MP3 player these days. The variety in the album is enticing because the band really expresses their love for the music, showcasing their talent with different styles in between the rock. I'm giving the album a 5-star rating because there isn't a song I don't like and I can't keep it off the playlist. The band took a risk in playing with new sounds on this album, and that risk paid off. Now it's your turn to reap the benefits and enjoy some good music."
