Good Strong Power Pop

"While reading the reviews, I couldn't help but giggle at some of the comments of what people think "Mexican rock" is...You'd be surprised by living in cities such as Tijuana, Monterrey, or Guadalajara how at times many rockers are pretty advanced with their musical tastes...sometimes more intune with diverse music than the U.S., since they have been forced to listen to music from other languages and cultures for quite some time...interesting food for thought...

I'm not surprised these boys hail from Monterrey...an AWESOME city and the Mexico no one talks about...classy, friendly people, great nightlife, modern and chic...the album has a strong, soft combo of pop melodies...I would not make the comparison to the strokes though..nada que ver! I did notice a tinge of My Bloody Valentine mixed with SoCal surfer guitar rock, but their music is pretty unique...

If you get a chance to see them live, do it...they put on a pretty solid performance...

And while you are at it, check out other Monterrey rock...Zurdock, Jumbo, Kinky, Plastilina Mosh...all excellent bands from this great city...regiomontanos know how to rock, and well! Check out Chilean(Lucybell) and Argentine(Babasonicos) rock too..."
Why aren't these guys famous?

"This, along with Re and Quatro Caminos by Cafe Tacuba, is probably my favorite CD ever. The songs are catchy and full of emotion. They actually have depth to them, both in their music and in their lyrics, which is something most music today desperatly lacks. The only complaint I could make about the album is that its a little mellow, but songs like Me Vas Dejando, one of the best songs I've ever heard - even my mom,who hates everything I listen to, fell in love with it- liven it up. And of course Ella es Azul, their single, is great too, as is No Quieres Venir. If you like this CD, I would definetly reccomend Quatro Caminos as mentioned above,or anything else by Cafe Tacuba, as well as the Y Tu Mama Tambien sountrack, which is where I first discovered Volovan. The sountrack is a great sampler of some of the best Rock en Espanol bands, a genre over which Volovan reigns supreme in talent. I just can't wait for them to come out with something else. Buy this album - you'll love it, I guarantee."
