CD Reviews

If Gargoyle is the Metallica of Japan, Volcano is Megadeth!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Volcano, comprised of Ex-Gargoyle Guitarist She-Ja, and drummer Katsuji, and fronted by the vocal talents of Nov. This is their second album. I cannot yet comment on how they've grown since their first album 'Violent' as I've not yet been able to acquire a copy, however, I can definately say this is not a bad album.
As I said before I consider Gargoyle to be the Metallica of Japan. They've grown over the years, have their heavy ballads, their power chords, you name it, they've grown in breadth snd scope. Volcano is much like Megadeth (with a dash of Scorpions), meaning they sound heavier and tougher, but with slightly less range. I especially liked the songs Absurd, Child Eyes, Progress, Crazy Red Machine and Barbwire, with Crazy Red Machine being my favourite. The lyrics book is in English, in fact the songs are mostly in English, although a sort of a twisted English, a lot like the Scorpions. If you like Heavy Metal, and are a fan of Japanese hard rock, I think you may like this."
