Fine "Best of" plus One New Hit Collection from Vivanativa

"Vivanativa is a "Rock en Español" Pop-Rock band that hails from the northwestern coast of the tropical nation-island of Puerto Rico (yeah, yeah, the same place where pop superstar Ricky Martin comes from, and for whom Vivanativa opened in tours at the peak of his popularity). With the "Evidencia" CD, the band collects its best work to date, along with a new single, the catchy Beatlesque ballad "Mariposa." While many Rock en Español bands like Mana and Los Enanitos Verdes display a heavy influence from norteño acts like The Police and The Outfield, Vivanativa offers a more diversified and--to this listener--a more interesting, musical repertoire characterized by solid production values, smooth wall of sound vocals, strong melodic arrangements, a touch of Paul McCartney here and there (the vocals in Sale Directo), and a funky, jazzy or bluesy edge right where you need it (Si Tu Me Quieres, Luna Ardiente, Puro Amor, respectively). It's hard to pick out the best songs in a best-of collection like this one, but the first four here (Mariposa, Me Sobra el Agua, Puro Amor and Conmigo Mas) will probably justify buying this CD at once. A very listenable, enjoyable collection from a band that understands the language of the rock medium well. If you must have just one Vivanativa CD in your collection or on your iPod/MP3, this is it!"
