"It would be difficult for anybody to follow a recording such as Joel Quarrington's Bottesini Vol.1, but Mr. Quarrington does so and then some. The selection of works on the CD dabbles in several different periods and the Papageno Variations does so all by itself. Every performer on the album plays up to the highest standard, and Mr. Quarrington continues to help push the bass envelope to higher and higher levels."

"This is one of the best bass recordings I have heard. The recording is well produced and the orchestra sounds wonderful in it's accompaniment. The Ziguenerweisen has to be heard to be believed. Most violinists would envy Quarrington's tempo!"
