Synopsis

Album Description
Hypnos is pleased to release our fourth project with the Belgian ambient master vidnaObmana. SOUNDTRACK FOR THE AQUARIUM is one of the most truly "ambient" vidnaObmana releases in recent years, and includes some of his finest work ever -- deep, aquatic, and slow-changing, as the title would suggest. This 2CD special edition is a remastered version of his original, obscure, long out-of-print 74-minute soundtrack (created for playback at the aquarium at the Antwerp Zoo in 1992). In addition, there is a second CD included, with a newly-released live recording of this same material, which was recorded at Comopoly in Hamburg, Germany the following year. Both recordings were re-compiled and re-mastered by vidnaObmana in 2000. Many vidnaObmana fans have been clamoring for another example of the more minimal, "pure" ambient side of vidnaObmana's style, as heard on TRILOGY or RIVER OF APPEARANCE. Those fans are going to love this one, and it's a certainty that SOUNDTRACK FOR THE AQUARIUM will become the all-time favorite vidnaObmana album of many fans. It's that special.

Like being at an aquarium without enslaving the animals

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Ha. But seriously, it makes you feel like you're in one of those underwater viewing areas that are all dark and cozy. I highly recommend it, despite the price tag."
