CD Reviews

Strict tempo dance music and a great buy
John R. Baker & Carol McGinn | Rockledge, FL United States | 12/17/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This British orchestra who has been around a long time. The music is "strict tempo" for competition or just dancing. Eight quicksteps is too many for Americans who don't dance it much. It would be difficult to dance magic rhythm to these quicksteps, as they are 50 measures per minute. The Modern Disco Beat is inappropriate on a ballroom dance CD, in my opinion. The Waltzes are a good tempo, not too fast. The Jive is very British. Get a Glenn Miller CD for American swing. The Latins are also good."
Top value for good dance music
J. Wakefield | SLC, Utah | 05/16/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"28 great tunes played by THE orchestra that developed and popularized strict tempo dance music. All of the great dance orchestras learned from listening to Victor Silvester, and this album will help you appreciate their wisdom. It is not historic in the sense of "You're Dancing on my Heart." Rather, it continues his genius in a worthy manner. This recording is amazingly clean for a digitally remastered album. Every track is danceable except maybe the "modern disco" track (#27)."
