It's not groundbreaking music, but it's damn appealing, fluid, and subtle, with a fresh selection of covers including the title track, Hall's should-be-classic "Careful," and Wes Montgomery's "Road Song."
Montgomery's superb trios with Mel Rhyne provide the presiding spirit for these sessions, but Chandler is a highly unusual player whose tone-colors are brighter than the usual jazz B-3 fare. Recommended." |
