"As of the date of this review, I've heard all of Vic's stuff, including his two collaborations with Wide Spread Panic. This one is, song for song, simply the best of the bunch. Every song offers a wonderful melody, a lyrical poem, and an uncomplicated musical arrangement. The beauty lies in the simplicity of the tunes. Just check out the last track for one of many examples. The musicianship is clean and expressive. Among the qualities I most enjoy in Vic's music is the range of feelings that it evokes. He makes melancholy fun! His later works seem more experimental and adventurous, which is fine. But this is the one I come back to more than any other. This is a real American musical gem!"
