Synopsis

Album Description
"Schizophrenic Lounge" is a re-release of the 1997 limited Double-CD paper box release "Sit Back & Relax" from VIBEMARES. It's an extract from the many remixes the band made. A new digital 24 BIT mastering gives this production a new face named "Schizophrenic Lounge", because now then ever, the band's style is trend oriented. VIBEMARES were beyond time in 1997, which is why Blue Flame Records decided to make a re-release of the best tracks. Jazzy, groovy Lounge character, with well-known musicians from soundcity Stuttgart - such as DJ Friction (Freundeskreis) - gives the album the kick onto the international parquet. When thr first Acid-Jazz albums were released in the UK end of the 80's, nobody was able to predict that, this sound was to influence the future music scene. Too many times did new hypes and trends disappear after only a few months. Not so with AcidJazz, everything was different with this new sound. Gradually an overall interest spread throughout Germany a new type of Jazz inspiration and fusion, far beyond the traditional idea. The new crossover sound was also discovered by Darius Gall and Horst Jungbauer alias Dr. Young in the early 90's. Darius Gall has already won several awards as composer, producer and musician in his home country Poland. Before working as a studio musician in London during 1989 and 1992, he played in different bands in Poland and Germany. After returning from England, he first met Dr. Young at work in the Studio Z, where Dr. Young was recording his debut CD "Crew Of Two". Dr. Young was working with local Beat, Jazz and Guitar bands and was recording special Rap tapes for local clubs. During the remixing of "Crew Of Two", they came to share each others enthusiasm for AcidJazz. During the summer of 1993, the first recordings and remixes were made with VIBEMARES. The track "Wildcat" was first heard on a compilation put together by a local radio station and was released later as an EP. The production took in position 22 in the German Dance Charts and had an overall positive airplay. The work on "Schizophrenic Lounge" started in the beginning of January 1995. The basic concept was developed by Darius Gall. Together they engaged several guest musicians, such as Sekou, rapper with The Phlow, DJ Friction, Claus Stötter playing the trumpet and Hans Martin Eberhardt, playing the saxophon. "A little bit of Miles Davis is in Schizophrenic Lounge, a Trip Hop oriented Jazz production, with solo piano parts á la Herbie Hancock", explains Dr. Young. The track "Sit Back & Relax" is a Hip Hop crossover, in which a Blue Harp and a variety of African drums are used. It is the use of such unusual instruments, also heard in "It Makes You Wanna Move", that made VIBEMARES continue exploring unknown musical territory.
