"Heard that Venom has been back together for awhile now.Oh,boy.The Deadline branch of Cleopatra Records had released this decent 2-CD offering.On 'New...',you get studio cuts from 1981-94,like "Angel Dust","Raise The Dead","Temples Of Ice","Black Metal" and "Witching Hour".You also recieve here some nice 'live' material including a couple of covers,Judas Priest's "Hell Bent For Leather" and Sabbath's "Megalomania".A good 20 song compilation.Good chance to pick up and hear some vital black metal history.Should appeal to fans of Celtic Frost,Mercyful Fate,Kreator and Overkill.Remember:real men don't wear ear plugs."

NEW LIVE & RARE could be considered VENOM'S finest work, except that CRONOS isn't grunting out the lyrics on these, it's the death-defying DEMOLITION MAN on bass & vocals. Will definitely make any Venom fan turn over every gravestone looking for more CD's with the D-man on 'em. All tracks are ferociously fast, loud and crazy, venturing into punk territory at times, but with very little satanic foolishness. Best track: TEMPLES OF ICE, hardcore homage to HP Lovecraft! GET IT BEFORE IT GETS YOU!"
