This album of seventy-five more fifties songs - yes, seventy-five; count 'em - represents the ultimate coverage of wonderful fifties music, and just might complete the collections of numerous Amazon.com customers.



This album consists of what I would term "Consummate Fifties Variety," in that the seventy-five selections cover the entire spectrum of musical flavor from the era. The light-hearted song that really characterizes the culture of the fifties, Bing Crosby's "Dear Hearts and Gentle People" sets the stage for the most complete musical enjoyment experience possible. In a decade that featured the best of true "divas" and "crooners," plus very memorable male and female groups, fantastic instrumentals, and novelty songs, they are all presented in this collection. "I Apologize," by Billy Eckstine was rarely available for forty years, and it is flawlessly reproduced here, as is the powerfully pleasing voice of baritone Don Cornell, with "I'm Yours."



Who could - or would want to - forget Les Paul and Mary Ford's super guitar and vocal deliveries, or groups like the Ames Brothers, whose "Sentimental Me" was a huge seller, or the Four Knights ("I Get So Lonely") and the Gaylords ("Tell Me You're Mine")? How about "Three Coins in The Fountain," one of the most romantic songs ever. The serious side of fifties music is also there, with Vera Lynn's melancholy "Auf Wiedersehn," "I Believe" by Frankie Laine, and "Be My Love" from the peerless Mario Lanza.



Also, the lively, wonderfully happy songs from Teresa Brewer are present here, to ensure you are pleasantly awakened from the nostalgic dreams produced by Percy Faith's hit, "The Song From Moulin Rouge," "I Went to Your Wedding" by Patti Page, or Eddie Fisher's mournful "I'm Walking Behind You."



This is truly a magnificent collection to add to your other somewhat similar, less complete albums, and "...there is not a runt in the lot!""
