"This CD is a shame, whoever is singing (I think it's Miss Piggy) is shameless about imitating Ms. Lennox, needless to say that it is just impossible. Please don't waste your money on this...."
This is NOT a tribute -- it's a mess

"Choosing to cover Annie Lennox is brave enough, but to call this "tribute" album, as the liner notes do here, "beautiful (and) soulful" is downright impudent. The vocals are weak and anything but soulful, and the music is generic synthesizer. What The Divine Rhythm, the group credited with 11 of the 12 tracks fail to realize is that Annie Lennox (as solo artist and half of Eurythmics) always mixed real soul with real music and not just synthesizers. Some of the singers don't even get the lyrics correct. The song selection is strange as well. The CD claims to "revisit the music from Lennox from each stage of her career," but the songs included here come from only six of Lennox's 13 albums. Of course, there's no reason to think that other songs would have been performed better. This is one of the worst CDs I've ever purchased."

"The great songs are all here. Devoid of their original soulful, lush rendenrings. This cd is a trap. Run from it. Mine has not even got any shelf life. It now sits getting a tan in some open air city trash deposit, being suspiciously looked at by vultures themselves."
Karaoke - Anyone?

"Big Annie Lennox fan here. Intense bias warning. This album is - at best - an interesting compilation of covers by an anonymous group o' folks. Three of the songs are actually other artist's songs that Lennox covered herself. With so many original compositions, it was disappointing that these three covers were covered. The record touts itself as a "beautiful, soulful tribute album." What it is? It is passable. The instrumentation is a very synthesized and watered-down rendition that apes Lennox's tracks nearly to a tee. The vocalists frequently seems to have switched out words in the songs, and even sing in a manner which besides being thin or reedy, gives me the distinct impression that many of the vocalists may not be English speaking.I give it 2 stars - the music runs along like karaoke track music, the vocalists faithfully imitate each of Lennox's phrasings. Nothing offensive here - but nothing noteworthy either.Only the rendition of SWEET DREAMS deviates - and it is the one song I completely dislike on the album. It's heavy and dull.Don't raise your hopes too very high."
A Review of the Reviews

"It was impossible for me to find decent information about this 'tribute' on the Internet or sellers' websites. Now, thanks to these posted reviews, I can see why. A tribute to Annie Lennox is an excellent idea. I love Annie Lennox. I love cover songs. (I love Annie Lennox's cover songs!) It is hard to imagine another artist singing better than Annie, admittedly, but hey, there are plenty of great songs to choose from, and room for lots of different styles... I guess I was slightly skeptical about who dared to approach the daunting task, otherwise why did I keep looking.
I was grateful when I read, Zezinho, "Run from it." or, "AVOID THIS CD LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!" From R. M. Maynard and "It's a mess."
When I read, "whoever is singing (I think it's Miss Piggy) is shameless about imitating Ms. Lennox..." and "At best interesting," "Karaoke Anyone?" I laughed out loud but then I could afford to since I didn't waste my money on this CD. Thanks, writers.
