CD Reviews

Graphic and Cd info not the same!!!

"Some years ago I bought the cassette of the program described here(album info and track listing). However, the graphic was not the same; so I assumed they had simply re-designed the packaging. RIP-OFF!!! I got a 20 track CD with nary a whiff of what's available on the original double-album program (per the track listing provided here). What WAS an incredible anthology of Blues, which covered and crossed the birth to the innovations beyond early Chicago years, now shares the same name as a wimpy, scaled down "taste" of the blues. Too bad, too bad...
Actual track listing is as follows:
1. St. Louis Blues- Bessie Smith
2. Dark was the Night- Blind Willie Johnson
3. Match Box Blues- Blind Lemon Jefferson
4. Backwater Blues- Bessie Smith
5. Guitar Rag- Sylvester Weaver
6. It's Nobody's Fault But Mine- Blind Willie Johnson
7. Frankie- Mississippi John Hurt
8.A Handful of Riffs- Lonnie Johnson and Eddie Lang
9. You Can't Get That Stuff No More- Tampa Red and Georgia Tom
10. No More Troubles Now- Lonnie Johnson
11. High Sheriff Blues- Charley Patton
12. Come On In My Kitchen- Robert Johnson
13. Baby You Gotta Change Your Mind- Blind Boy Fuller
14. I'm A Bad Luck Woman- Memphis Minnie
15. Cross Road Blues- Robert Johnson
16. Parchman Farm Blues- Bukka White
17. Roberta- Leadbelly
18. Death Letter- Son House
19. Hard Day Blues- Muddy Waters
20. Baby, Please Don't Go- Muddy Waters"
Great "taste"

"It all depends on your perspective. I guess. The one-star reviewer expected something different. I knew exactly what I was getting at a used store and was thrilled to get this collection for five bucks. Look at the twenty tracks listed in that review. It's an incredible cross-section of old blues. The sound is great and this is 63 minutes of music. I'm sure there are a lot of awesome blues anthologies out there, but I love this one."
