Doo Wop At It's ( Nearly ) Finest

(4 out of 5 stars)
"It's tough to go wrong with this one. Capital Records was a powerhouse back in the fifties, and they got aboard the rock and roll express just like nearly everyone else. They put out some fine doo wop and R&B, as this disc easily shows. In my opinion, the cost of the entire CD is justified by just one song: Dream Girl by The Rob Roys. That song is one of the greatest doo wop songs of all time, sung by one of the greatest doo wop groups of all time. The song is so good, it sends chills up my spine every time I hear it.
But the good news doesn't stop there. There's also a couple songs from lesser-known groups like Sammy Hagan and The Viscounts, and The Spinners. Also two from doo wop greats The Fascinators. There may be one or two songs on the disc that aren't quite up to par with the others, but all in all, this CD is well worth getting if you're a fan of old time doo wop.
It gets four stars due to the extremely short number of songs ( what seems to be a Collectables trademark ), and I only give five stars out all-out classics."
