Bizarre and Beautiful

"This great album focuses on Pet Sounds and Smile, with a (literally) explosive Surfin USA cameo.
But I wonder if "focus" is the appropraute word? Many of the tracks are deliciously out of focus, or at least flirting with focus.
Conceived and delivered with understanding, quirkiness and style, it is irreverently reverent. You know things are getting weird when you hear tribute versions of bootleg outtakes...and you instantly recognise them. This is that kind of album.
I play it a lot, and love it best when I have been "beating to death" the commercially released versions of the two albums.
I know none of the artists (though any band that calls itself "Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her" has to be worth listening to), but/and I salute them, and exhort you to track down this gem.

"Very interesting array of bands doing Beach Boys covers. definatetly an album to listen to if your into Secret Chiefs & Mr Bungle. Secret Chiefs version of 'Good Vibrations' is silly & Trey Spruance & William Winnett do a great version of 'Heroes & Villains'. Thuston Moore also has a cool song. All & all pretty bizarre"
