Member CD Reviews![]() Reviewed on 2/26/2010... Great!!! I bought this because it had Michael Cooney, one of my favorite pipers, and boy, did I get a deal! This is full of great pipe tunes! I'm just glad it had Cooneys' name on it, other wise I may have passed over it. He and Jerry O'Sullivan are fantastic, but the list of other virtuoso's on this cd is really impressive. What a find!
CD ReviewsCeltic Music Served 'Piping Hot' Steve Vrana | Aurora, NE | 08/01/2001 (4 out of 5 stars) "Like the other titles in Green Linnet's Celtophile series, this release succeeds on several levels: the music is of consistent high quality, it is generous in its playing time, and it's a terrific bargain to boot.If you love bagpipe music, you won't want to pass on this collection, which features thirteen tracks from eleven artists--only Jerry O'Sullivan and the Tannahill Weavers are given two tracks each.On five of the tracks, the bagpipes are featured as a solo instrument, including O'Sullivan, Matt Conolly (a live performance), Tommy Reck, and perhaps the instrument's greatest ambassador, folklorist and story teller Seamus Ennis (1919-1982). On the remaining eight tracks, the pipes are featured in a group setting or with only one or two other instruments. There are no vocals here, so the emphasis is placed squarely on the bagpipes. This is an amazing collection. Total Running Time: 48:34 RECOMMENDED" Great CD Kevin Chappell | Jonesboro, GA USA | 08/11/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "I love the Great Highland Bagpipes, and I bought this CD thinking it would be mostly pipes. Boy, was I wrong! At first I was very disappointed, but after listening to the CD a few times, I decided I really liked it. The tracks by the Tannahill Weavers, Seamus Ennis, and Rare Air are some of my favorites. I especially like the tunes with acoustic instruments - a nice blend of pipes and other wind instruments with strings like the banjo and violin. A very nice "Celtic" cd."
