"Musette is the melodious music, soft and sweet in character, that is the quintessential expression of cosmopolitan Parisian life. In a movie soundtrack, the sound of Paris is stereotypically musette. It began in the late 19th century when the inhabitants of Auvergne, an old province in central France, settled in Paris and brought with them their dance music played on a small, sweet toned bagpipe called a cabrette. Later, Italian immigrants to Paris substituted the accordion for the cabrette and, just after the turn of the 20th century, musette swept through France. Afterwards, musette incorporated aspects of popular French songs, latin and gypsy music, and American swing. This anthology brings together a mix of talented contemporary musicians who are masters of musette. They do a wide variety of musette styles that are an absolute pleasure to enjoy."

"Musette is the blues, tango, and jazz music of Paris... Paris Musette represents an incredible collection of musette in beautiful recordings. I can't recommend them enough. (Vintage Guitar Magazine)"
