CD ReviewsNartional Anthems incomplete Anne Brazil | Cayucos, CA USA | 09/10/2000 (3 out of 5 stars) "National Anthems of the World includes only 16 anthems, for the most part, European. At least USA, Israel, Canada,and Japan are included. For my purposes, it would have been nice to at least have the anthem of Russia as I am planning to use this in my music classroom during the Olympics.The second, and in some cases third, verses would have made sense had the recording included lyrics. The instrumentation sounds unusually similar from one anthem to the next. The Anthem of Wales is a refreshing change with its oboe solo, harp, strings, and maybe even a cello.The London Theatre Orchestra must have been on vacation at the time, as the orchestrations are thin. Strong on the brass and percussion and very light on the woodwinds and strings.All in all, I find this CD strongly mediocre!"
