CD Reviews

Fantastic Chillout Compilation

(5 out of 5 stars)

"A friend of mine picked this up for me in London on her way back to the States and this album has been a pleasant surprise. I have been disappointed with some of my Ministry of Sound compilations, but this one is very good. It has a lot of the classic chillout songs, so if you already own a bunch of chillout albums, you might want to skip this because you're not really going to find anything new and shiny. BUT, the fact that MOS put 3 cds of the best chillout in one album for a somewhat reasonable price has made my ears quite happy. I own some other MOS chillout annuals, and sometimes they can get a little beat-heavy, bordering on deep house music - this album keeps it chilled. There are not many asian or middle-eastern inspired tracks. If that is your cup of tea, I recommend MOS's Karma Collection or Karma Collection Sunrise. Those are excellent albums as well."
MOS Chilled = Awesome collection

"Ministry of Sound is probably better known for their dance and club music collections, but I personally much prefer their chilled collections. Of those, this is the best, period.

3 CDs covering 60 tracks means this is a COMPLETE collection, with all of the best chill out songs you could ask for. Spanning a 17 year period, this collection is massive! There are songs that will take you back (Underwater Love, Heartbeats, Deepest Blue), some truly fantastic beats (American Dream, Eple, In My Arms), some goofy stuff (His Majesty King Raam is funky but awesome) and everything in between.

This is not "Chillout Sessions," which is a little more pop happy and even dance oriented. There are some dance-worthy tracks in this collection, but they are more background or ambient tunes that play well together as a collection. I think of the three CDs the 1st is my favorite (the first 4 tracks are awesome) followed by CD3, and then CD2.

For this price, this is quite a lot of music, and this is a no-brainer if you rally like MOS Chiiled stuff. If you've never invested in MOS before, now is the time. This is a great collection."
