Authentic But Not Stale

"Though sometimes lacking as far as overall sound quality, this album still offers some amazing musicality. Jumping from traditional big band arrangements and Professor Longhair, to Tchaikovsky melodies, to a kind of polka/funk hybrid (on "Polkaspasm"), and a few stops along the way, "Made in the Shade" serves as a great tone setter for this band: great licks and great wit. Never to be lumped into an easy listening category, this band keeps your ears on your toes. For the jazz aficionado and the casual listener alike, this album will prove to a real pleasure."
