CD Reviews

Logic beatz they be!
06/23/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Overall, a good listening CD, but this isn't a musical breakthrough. Its just plain good. The main purpose I had in mind for this disc was to sit and work (programming) with my headphones... well... and for driving! Right from the start of the disc, its obvious that the recording quality is outstanding. The mixing done by Chris Gin is barely noticable. He doesn't use tricks all over the place, he just does a heck of a good job getting one song to lead into the next. He does an even better job of keeping the pace from track to track. In the end, I've decided its a better work CD than a driving CD. The break down on the tracks are as follows :-"Low Jack" & "Doppelganger" are just plain smoov.-"Seduction of Orpheus" and "Got Me Down" are fantastic.-"Phuture 2000" is a bit repetitive/boring. Least favorite on the disc.-"Dark Blue" & "SuperNova" are good progressive tunes. Great background sounds.-"Mindless" is as the title states. Again, good background noize.-"Heaven Scent" is nice. Nothing spectacular.-"The Chase" is great soundtrack material with highs and lows.-"Rush Hour" maintains the mood with a nice progression.-"ThunderClap" is excellent with a phat break beat element. -"First Floor Deadlock" carries it through for a good ending and even a nice loop quality for continuous listening. If you're already an electronica listener, this is an excellent addition to your collection. If you're just getting started on the scene, there are other compilations that are much more exciting. But, keep this one in mind!"

"Unlike Logic Trance 2 which was a 2 disc set with separate tracks, this disc is a continuous mix. It is the best mix compilation that I have so far so I give it 5 stars. As mentioned before it is a pro mix with not a lot of tricks, the whole mix is seamless and fluid. The DJ (Cris Gin) even threw in some scratchy vinyl to complete the effect. If you have a party don't bother getting a DJ, just buy this disc. The tracks have everything that trance listeners have come to enjoy: shifting, swirling soundscapes, beat interrupts and changes, and the requisite anthem."
