"its good laylaw got a deal to put his album out. the guys a west coast veteran who was on ruthless records and worked with the likes of NWA, and co-produced classic rap albums with dr dre in that period. unfortunately he disappeared after above the laws 1990 debut "livin like hustlers", remained strangely absent during the death row heydey, but thankfully was dusted off in 1997 for this record, when west coast rap was in decline.laylaw sticks to production, and uses his friends to rap. laylaws grooves are largely dark, heavy in bass and very funky. unfortunately he doesnt vary these sounds enough, and some of the artists he chose lack talent. suprisingly, it is the washed up ice cube who shines with "legal paper", LV comes off with a classic, addictive groove with "i just wanna play" and above the law, xzibit and rass kass provide some good stuff. i would recommend this album if you love west coast rap and love the whole ruthless records/death row family tree, and your looking for something with a bit more substance in the production. laylaw has talents, i hope he resurfaces for volume 2 of lawhouse,as the whole west coast scene is back in fashion and it would be great to hear him reunite with the likes of dr dre."
