"Another great effort by Echo Beach but this one really blew my head. All KSD - chapters 1 thru 6 - feature some great tracks but this seventh edition features many. Echo Beach's concept in which dancefloor tracks are mixed dub-style - or dubs are mixed dancefloor-style - has proven to yield some instant club classics, while experiments are not shunned. One of the chapters features a track by Simply Red mixed by Blood and Fire which is absolutely irresistible. Not all experiments work out as well though. Nevertheless it seems on chapter seven a very mature balance has been found b/t the mystic qualities of true dub reggae and modern, hi-quality dj music. This one is the only one from the series that I would rate four stars (five stars are only for really immortal albums) but it holds a great promise for the soon to be released eighth chapter.
The hypnotic Mr. Medicine Man is a dark, complex trance dub of lasting value. Further highlights include State of Emergency's Banks of Babylon or another great track by Sounds from the Ground, the brass-engulfed Idlewild. It's not all gold that glitters though; the first track Millennium sounds uncharacteristically uninspired, but if you are willing to get past this one a truly exciting and important nu-dub album awaits the listener."
