Love Scene is culled mostly from baby-boomer box-office hits (Phenomenon, The Commitments, The Big Chill). Not surprisingly, the disc consists of boomer-friendly music, with the predictable mishmash of styles and eras that gratifies a boomer's need for old-timey nostalgia as well as VH1-style "adult contemporary" music. It's certainly not a bad collection, just a weird one: Jimmy Durante ("Make Someone Happy" from Sleepless in Seattle) is the old-timey choice, while Lori Carson (the delicate "You Won't Fall" from Stealing Beauty) provides a wonderfully sappy '90s middle-of-the-road number. For classic pop fare, you've got Aretha Franklin, Percy Sledge, the Commitments' cover of Otis Redding, and, most sublimely, that perfect, faux-Brian Wilson song from Grace of My Heart, "God Give Me Strength," cowritten by Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach. A good gift for movie fans with a musical streak and weak knees. --Mike McGonigal

Great Compilation with a rare never before released track

"I first found this CD last week while looking for something else. I am so glad I stumbled upon this gem. I am a big fan of the movie "Grace of My Heart" and have been wondering how I could get the Kristen Vigard version of the song "God Give Me Strength". If you've been looking too, look no more. This cd not only has that original, never before released track but also some great movie themes. Aaron Neville's version of "Crazy Love" is fantastic and brings back memories from "Phenomenon" which was the intent of the cd compiliers. Each song was picked for the signifigance it had to the movie it was in. I found songs here that I hadn't heard in a long time and the blend of music and styles is fantastic. I put it in my car stereo on the way home and haven't taken it out since. If you want a cd that would be perfect for a fire and a glass of wine- this is the cd for you. There is also a mini-booklet inside the case that gives a cool background as to why each song was chosen and the how the song came about in the movie (cool info!). This cd is a real bargain for the price!!!"
