Synopsis

The reviews for the movie are in the "B" range, which ain't bad for a Demi Moore flick in recent years. The soundtrack's melange of oldies (Three Dog Night, Bad Company) and oddities (the Exene Cervenka-fronted "Auntie Christ," produced by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong) deserves about the same grade. The saving grace here is two dazzling new songs by The Pretenders. Trevor Horn produced with trademark finesse, Chrissie Hynde is in heart-melting form, and her string-fueled cover of Steve Earle's "Goodbye" deserved to be her biggest hit since "Don't Get Me Wrong" a decade back (but wasn't). --Jeff Bateman

Pretenders Steal the Show

(4 out of 5 stars)

"This cd is worth picking up for two things, "Goodbye" and "Homecoming" by The Pretenders. Goodbye is one of their most beautiful ballads(Actually a cover of Steve Earle`s song), and its really hard to hold back the tears when thinking back on the final scene in the movie when the song is played. Since the songs are very hard to find outside this cd, I recommend picking up it just for the Pretenders Songs. The rest is typcial Military Movie Soundtrack fare, with some good old classic songs, and some nice scores by Jones. Still, Its the Pretenders who steal the show here."
