Long-Time Companion

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have owned this CD for quite some time, and I never tire of it. Having grown up in bayou country in southeast Louisiana, I am familiar with many of the sights and sounds of the bayous and the swamps around them.

With the encroachment of community development on nature in that area, many of these sounds have been lost forever in that part of the country. Yet, when I put this on to read or surf the net, it feels so good to know that these sounds have been recorded. My grandchildren may never hear these sounds other than on a recording such as this.

OK, that's the political part of this. The instrinsic joy of this recording relates to memories of my childhood. I can remember Grandfather Klibert taking me with him to go crawfishing in the swamps off US Hwy 61 in St. Charles Parish back about 50 years ago. These are the sounds that greeted us and stayed with us the entire time. Grandfather didn't speak much, so there was lots of time to listen to nature.

The cut entitled "Twilight" is especially relaxing.

Very good

"The first thing that impressed me about this CD was the excellent sound quality. These recordings are often so obviously digital and/or fake. This does have some great animal sounds on it and does make you feel like you're wandering around in a shouthern marsh at twilight. Though in reality, that is scary and not pleasant like this CD is! Hearing a gator growl is not something you'd actually want to experience! I like to read to this recording. Good, unintrusive background noise. Very nice."
Good CD

"I love the bayou, and listening to its sounds can take you there (if only in your imagination). For me, this is meditative, something that takes me away from the city."
