Good Rare Country!
Mcgivern Owen L | NY, NY USA | 09/17/2007

"Now here is an unusual album for country fans! "Two Timing Tunes" is entirely devoted to that most elemental country subject: CHEATING! There is a wide historical span to this compilation, ranging from 1949 ("Slipping Around") to 1979 ("It's a Cheating Situation"). All of the tracks but one ("Now I Lay Me Down to Cheat") made the Billboard charts. None disappoint. Favorites are subjective but this reviewer liked the wailing duet "It's a Cheating Situation" (Janie Fricke is unbilled) and a plaintive "One Has My Name". Has anyone done mournful country better than The Killer? A few of the artists herein have had "difficult" personal lives, lending an air of reality. The helpful inserted jacket reminds us that Kitty Wells, who sang many cheating tunes, has been married to the same man since 1938! TTT is good, solid no nonsense country featuring sounds that are hardly overexposed. This album is apparently only available through 3rd party purchase. This reviewer can state from experience: amazon handles 3rd party transactions very capably. There is no need to shy away from a purchase on that account."
