CD Reviews

A good selection of songs but not without its faults....not

"This CD installment of Billboard's Top Hits for 1975 offers great sound and music that easily brings back fond memories. It's a great CD for fans of '70s music. The quality of the sound is good, too.

The CD has some great songs. I really like "Sister Golden Hair;" "Love Will Keep Us Together;" "When Will I Be Loved" and "Get Down Tonight." Awesome!

On the other hand, it would have been nice had Rhino Records bothered to get the track listings straight! On the front of the CD the songs are listed in a different order than they are on the back of the CD liner notes. That leaves me wondering: was there a typographical error or were the songs ranked by popularity on the front cover of the liner notes? A mystery. Not good.

The Rhino Records Billboard series has another flaw: There can only be ten songs per CD. When a CD like this weighs in at only a skimpy 35 minutes, they certainly could have added another two songs with no problem whatsoever. Why not make this a better compilation by adding another two songs? I don't get it.

The liner notes include great black and white photos of some of the bands on this CD as well as news headlines from 1975. Great!

Overall, this is a great budget CD for fans of '70s rock and people who want to remember those great memories of those years. I myself truly enjoyed most of the songs on this CD; the other songs weren't bad either. On the other hand, the track listing inconsistency creates a mystery and the limit of ten songs leaves me wanting a little bit more than what I got.

Four stars for being a good CD which could have been a great CD if it didn't have a few problems.

"I got this CD for my hubby for Christmas. I got is due to sentimental reasons. We married in 1975. Turns out he loves it. I have not seen it since he recieved it. He keeps it in his brief case so he can play it in his car and at work."
